Liz talks openly about being the marketing rockstar working on the awards
Can you tell us what you do and what your role is with the awards?
I am an event marketeer, covering all different sectors, with a keen interest in retail events. My role in the awards is varied and I provide marketing support to the team as required .
What makes these awards special?
These awards are organised by a team who really understand how tough it is out there. Created ‘for the people, by the people’, they are unique in their determination to recognise how hard those in the retail industry work to deliver- in extenuating circumstances that are often challenging.
What is your favourite retail moment, initiative, or innovation?
Over the years, I have observed a marked step change in the way retailers regard the concept of looking after their teams. There is still a long way to go but it is encouraging to see investment in not just the fiscal, but mental and emotional health of employees and the huge difference this makes to the positive psyche of their workforce.
If you were a retail brand, what would be your unique selling point?
My selling point would be adaptable, resilient and cost effective!
If you could choose a famous retail mascot or slogan to represent the team what would it be and why?
“Be the Best” – The original Army recruitment slogan. It sums up how we all work together as a team and bring our expertise to the table to present the best possible outcome to the task in hand.
