Gill Smith

Managing Director
The Perfume Shop

Gill Smith is the Managing Director at The Perfume Shop and has spent over 20 years working in the FMCG sector.

After qualifying as a chartered accountant, she held various senior finance roles in the wines and spirits industry early on in her career before moving into retail in 2006 when she joined The Perfume Shop.

Gill spent 8 years as CFO across the A.S Watson Group delivering ambitious turnaround plans for Superdrug and Savers before being appointed Managing Director of The Perfume Shop in 2014. Gill is passionate about bringing back excitement into buying and owning perfume and is adapting The Perfume Shop retail experience to deliver this for customers. She also advocates for team development and the nurturing of colleagues so they can truly thrive in the business. She’s proud of how each area of the business supports employee growth, especially within the retail stores which are used as a springboard for youth to develop and diversify their skillset leading into managerial roles and specialist careers.

As a business, The Perfume Shop continues to partner with and champion charities, such as Alzheimer’s Research UK and Look Good Feel Better, through donations and support across the business. As well as charity support from the wider business, Gill is also a trustee and board member for several charities including the Jim Jackson Foundation and Look Good Feel Better, all of which are close to her heart. In addition to her Managing Director and charity roles, Gill is a member of the board at the Fragrance Foundation.
